RULES

FORMAT:

36‐hole medal play.
Saturday is Best Ball and Sunday is Best Ball Shamble

Best Ball ‐ Each person on the 2‐person team plays his own golf ball throughout the round. After each hole, the player with the lowest score on the hole (or “best ball”) out of the 2‐person team serves as the team’s score. The higher scoring player’s score is thrown out for that hole.

Best Ball Shamble ‐ Each person on the 2‐person team hits a tee shot, on Par 4 and Par 5 holes, the players decide which shot they like better. The two players then play from that spot. The person whose shot was not taken picks up their ball and moves it to within one scorecard of the selected spot, remaining in the same condition as the ball selected. Both players then play a shot from that spot. Each player plays their own ball out from that point. On Par 3 holes each player must play their own ball.

After each hole, the player with the lowest score on the hole serves as the team’s score. The higher scoring player’s score is thrown out for that hole.

TEES:

Must be played in this order:

Championship – Blue / Black
First, Second, Third Flights – White / Blue Senior – Red / Yellow
Senior 80+ – Red Pink / Red Pink

PREFERRED LIES:

The ball can be moved one scorecard length in your own fairway, no closer to the hole.

OUT OF BOUNDS:

Out of bounds is defined by the inside edges of white stakes and paved roads. The railroad track to the left of number 2 is out of bounds.

The driving range is part of the course.

HAZARDS:

Regular water hazards are identified by yellow stakes. Lateral hazards are identified by red stakes.

SUSPENSION OF PLAY:

The committee will decide when to continue or stop play based on the weather or weather report. Any player who stops or discontinues play on their own may be subject to disqualification.

HCC defines an 18‐hole stipulated round as completed when the same (9) nine holes of golf have been completed by all participants in a flight.

Suspension of play shall be signaled by consecutive air horn blasts. Resumption of play will be signaled by one horn blast.

RULES DECISION:

If in doubt as to correct procedure, play a second ball under Rule 3‐3 and report the facts to the committee upon completion of the round.

RULES COMMITTEE:

David Ashmore
